Restorative Yoga

Rachel Harris

Rachel Harris is a devoted wife of a Marine aviator and mother of three active children. She grew up overseas as a missionary surgeon’s daughter, enjoyed climbing trees, playing soccer, and reading. Her love of movement and learning continued into adulthood - earning a B.S. in Psychology from Northern Arizona University and coaching certifications in CrossFit and Track & Field. Her life changed dramatically after a back injury and through massage she began heal and found yoga. Seeing injury as an opportunity, she pursued a 200 hour yoga teacher training from the Yoga Center of Carmel in 2016. It was through that training that she found inner peace and began to understand the true spirit of yoga. Her most recent endeavor was a 200 hour Prana Vinyasa Teacher Training taught by senior teacher, Monica Mesa Dasi, of Shiva Rea's Samudra Global School of Living Yoga. Rachel loves to interweave her classes with inspiration often pulled from intention cards, yoga texts, and quotes. She is passionate about self-care and believes that massage and yoga are essential for restoring the soul. She loves empowering people to feel their best – physically, emotionally and spiritually. When the mind, body and spirit are one, there is freedom. She currently does therapeutic massage throughout the Kansas City area, is a substitute yoga teacher with the YMCA of Greater Kansas City and North Kansas City Hospital, and holds classes at Gardens of Delight and Shape Fitness in Smithville. This class is designed for students of all abilities. It is a soothing and gentle class which restores balance to the nervous system, allowing the body to gently open and heal. With deep relaxation at the core of this class, each student may feel gently supported through props, gentle stretching, and guided meditation.
